“Nomads All”
“Nomads All”
Paintings and sculpture by Roger Rapp
RappCity Art, the Denver, “RiNo” arts district studio of Roger Rapp, presented its premier exhibit, “Nomads All”, on Super First Friday, October 5th. We wish to thank all those who attended our inaugural exhibit for helping to make this a happy and successful occasion. This body of work will be on display and can be viewed by appointment.
Rapp’s works investigate commonalities of form and theme that appear in science, philosophy, religion and art. In this exhibit, Rapp uses compositions excerpted from Michelangelo’s fresco, “Last Judgment”, then blends this story of the judgment of souls with the paths of contemporary genetic research so as to provoke a dialogue regarding ethics and survival.
These works are a selection from the series that was first shown at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, Michigan in 2002. The scale of that venue allowed the presentation of the entire body as a single composition spanning twenty feet in width and reaching twenty feet in height; a confrontation of one’s self with a truly grand event. In the current installation, the works are presented in a more human scale allowing for a more intimate contact with the viewer.
